Gas Detection Systems

The Detcon Model 880 PLC based graphic control system is specifically designed to serve as a host monitoring and control system for serial or analog networks of gas detection sensors as well as a broad range of other field devices. Field configurable, the system is designed to monitor up to 40 Analog or 80 Serial field devices, graphically display the status of each device, provide three fully programmable alarm outputs and log alarm events to a USB Drive. The use of standard industrial components makes the Detcon Model 880 system an easy and practical choice when configuring point-to-point monitoring and data acquisition. The system can also be configured for remote monitoring.

Analog Up To 40 Channels
Analog 4-20mA networks are typically recognized as the most fail-safe approach. Analog Model 880 systems consist of up to five 8 channel 4-20mA analog input DC modules. This allows a maximum of 40 analog input channels.

Serial Up To 80 Channels
The protocol used by Detcon for the RS-485 communications is the Modbus. RTU, and it is compatible with almost all PLC's, MMI's, and distributed control systems. The Modbus. RTU protocol is standard. Information available from the RS-485 port includes: range, gas type, current readings, alarm set points, alarm status, alarm latching/non-latching configuration, alarm ascending/descending mode, fault alarm, alarm disable status, and test mode status. The maximum number of sensors used in this configuration is 80.

Anatomy of a 1600/6400 Distributed I/O System

The control system can be powered by 110/220 VAC or 11.5-30 VDC. The system is available in NEMA 1 panel or wall mount enclosures, NEMA 4X weatherproof enclosure, and NEMA 7 explosion proof enclosure. Detcon's full range of gas sensors, which are purchased separately, can be mixed and matched to create a gas detection system consisting of toxic gas, combustible gas, or oxygen deficiency.

A wide range of field devices such as liquid level, temperature, pressure, flow, etc. can be configured for input to the control system. Alarm control features one-touch Alarm Inhibit, Alarm Reset, and Alarm Silence (Acknowledge) functions. Detcon Model 1600/6400 controllers provide a unique combination of user programming flexibility and customizable expansion capability, in a low-cost and simple-to-operate package.
